Just Another Car on the Road: The Convenience Creeps.
I gotta tell you—I love what I do. Being on the road every day, surrounded by so many different personalities, is amazing. There’s something deeply human about these daily interactions. I learn a lot out here.

But there’s something else I’ve started to notice.
The Convenience creeps.

It starts small.
A quick gas station stop for a snack—because meal prep didn’t happen.
A fast food drive-thru—because traffic was too heavy to stop anywhere else.
A little downtime in a parking lot—because the schedule is unpredictable and the day is long.

Before you know it, that pit stop becomes the routine.
Instead of setting the day up for success, I start building the day around what’s easy.
Lunch? Convenience store.
Planning? I’ll do it when I pause.
Rest? Park and nap.
Write? Right here in the car, in between bites of something microwaved.

And when I find the right convenience store—clean bathroom, safe lot, decent snacks—it feels like I’ve hit the jackpot.
✔️ Parking
✔️ Food
✔️ Bathroom
✔️ Chill time
✔️ Write time
✔️ Nap time

It’s all so… convenient.
And that’s the danger.
Because pretty soon, I’m no longer choosing what’s best—I’m just choosing what’s there.

Isn’t that just like life?

Our days are meaningful but messy. Long, chaotic, and full of demands.
So we start to lean on shortcuts:

  • Quick meals instead of thoughtful nourishment
  • Screens instead of conversation
  • One-click gifts instead of intentional moments
  • Generic greetings instead of personal connection

What starts as survival becomes our standard.
What begins as help becomes habit.

We wanted relief—but we lost rhythm.
We craved ease—but we sacrificed effort.

So the real question is:
When convenience becomes your pattern, is it truly convenient – or are you just being a creep?

Well, it’s time for me to creep away from this store. This is Ralph, and I’m just another car on the road.
